Some racehorses explode out of the gate, building an early, insurmountable lead. Others start slowly, but hit their stride mid-race and turn on the afterburners on the home stretch. Still others limp out of the gate, pull up lame after a couple of furlongs and need to be shot after the race. The Gimpy Gelding Award is dedicated to that last batch of thoroughbreds, and goes to the player each game who takes the longest to correctly answer a question.
